Tastings

Linkwood 25yr 43% Speyside


Nose: Sweet, honeyed fruits, peach, apricot, very unctuous and syrupy, honey roast almonds or sugared almonds, a touch of something herbal and floral


Palate: Sweet and almost savory, stewed fruits in white wine, pears, peaches and apricots, syrupy in flavor but medium-bodied in texture, oak tannins, slightly sweet and nutty


Finish: Long, dry, and spicy. Late notes of tobacco leaves









Tormore 2002 Côte Rôtie Wood Finish 15yr 45% Speyside


Nose: Vanilla, stewed prunes, apple, and fresh grapefruit notes. A touch of ginger and cocoa


Palate: Sweet and creamy with soft spiced apple, butterscotch, and tangerine. Earthy with toasted oak, a bit nutty


Finish: Medium long, slightly drying with oak and citrus notes










Benriach Tawny Port Wood Finish 21yr 46% Speyside


Nose: Rich spices and oak tannin with a hint of dark cherry and chocolate. Quite dry.


Palate: Fruity, with hints of Juicy Fruit chewing gum, black grapes and ripe red cherries. Well balanced and full.


Finish: Sweet, with a hint of cinnamon about it. Almost rum-like.


Comment: A really sweet and delicious little number. Right strength, right balance. Excellent!








Springbank Sherry Wood 17yr 52.3% Campbletown


Nose: Big sherry notes, apple, pear, and berries. Warm gingerbread, orange marmalade, slightly salty , and a hint of peat.


Palate: Buttery sherry goodness, stewed raisins, with late notes of coffee, liquorice, and toffee.


Finish: More sherry, richer toffee, slightly burnt bitterness. Then there’s the peat.










Bowmore Vintner’s Trilogy #1 - Manzanilla Sherry Casks 18yr 52.5% Islay


Nose: Berry sweetness and caramelized red apples, candied orange peel and vanilla. Smoke, savory, and spice.


Mouth: Sweet with medium smoke, spicy pepper & ginger. Blackberry with late herbal and salty notes


Finish: Medium long with dark chocolate notes

Kilchoman 2006 10yr 57.6% Islay


Nose: Very peaty and intense, malty, oily and mineral, smoke.


Palate: Mineral notes, then peat and freshly dug earth, creamy mouthfeel with vanilla. Nice balance of flavors.


Finish: Medium length. Earthly, seaweed, drier with some oak. Laphroaig?

Nose: Sweet with caramel, molasses, and peat notes


Palate: Caramel, peat, and molasses

Manyunk Brewing Co “Rise & Grind” Brunch Stout 10.3% PA


Nose: Dark malt, with big coffee notes.


Palate: Rich, smooth, coffee grounds, dark malt, cacao.


Finish: Medium long & smooth














Founders "CBS" Imperial Stout BB Aged, 11.7% MI


Nose: Chocolate, coffee, bourbon, maple syrup, roasted coffee beans, roasted malt, baker’s chocolate.


Palate: More chocolate, coffee, bourbon, maple syrup, roasted coffee beans, roasted malt, cocoa nibs, and baker chocolate.


Finish: Medium long and delicious!











Firestone “Stickee Monkey” Central Coast Quad 12.5% CA


Nose: Toffee, bourbon, maple, brown sugar.


Palate: Thick sticky and chewy mouthfeel. Caramel, toffee, molasses, nutty, bourbon, vanilla.


Finish: Medium long
